Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Our growing list of answers to questions you might have.

  • Is your License to Carry (LTC) Handgun Course state-wide approved?

Yes. This is the Texas approved online LTC Handgun Course. Successful completion of this course is valid anywhere in the State of Texas. After the completion of the online course, you will be issued a "Certificate of Training". Any Texas LTC Instructor will be able to then administer the proficency demonstration (handgun qualification) portion of the training to you. More information about the handgun qualification, and where to find an LTC instructor to administer it, is available to you in our course.

  • Once I start the online class, how long do I have to complete it?

We understand sometimes you may not be able to finish a course in one sitting, so you can always save your progress and come back to it later. Currently, here are the standards: For the online LTC Handgun Course, you will have 60 days to complete the online training. The State of Texas gives you 12 months from the time you finish the LTC Course to complete the other steps with the State (fingerprinting and background check).

  • What happens once I complete your LTC handgun course online?

Once you complete this online classroom portion of the training, you will be emailed a Certificate of Training showing when you completed the classroom portion. You will need to take a printed copy of this certificate to any LTC instructor of your choosing when you go to qualify with your handgun. Most gun ranges in Texas have an LTC instructor on site. Any LTC instructor in Texas can qualify you, and the prices vary depending on the instructor. However, if you are going to be in the San Antonio area, an instructor with Five-O Training can qualify you. The cost for a Five-O LTC instructor is $25.00 + range fees (about $15.00). So, $40.00. If you would like us to qualify you or you have any additional questions; contact Richard Bryan at [email protected] or [email protected]. Stay Safe!

  • How do I get the background check started?

Background checks are conducted through and for the State of Texas. You can start this process before you complete an LTC course, or you can wait until afterwards. All applications for a handgun license are completed online through the State of Texas website.
